Line of credit for micro and small companies approved

The Senate approved this last week of April a line of credit to help micro and small companies during the Covid-19 crisis. The main text received 74 votes in favor and one abstention. The proposal will go to Bolsonaro's sanction.

What will be the main criteria?

  • Microenterprises with revenues of up to R$ 360 thousand per year
  • Small companies with annual revenues from R$ 360 thousand to R$ 4.8 million.
  • A loan may be granted whose value will be up to 30% of the company's annual gross revenue in the last year.

According to the project, this corresponds to a maximum value of R$ 108 thousand for micro companies and R$ 1.4 million for small companies.

For new companies, with less than one year of operation, the loan limit will be up to half of the share capital or 30% of the average monthly revenue.

The credit line for companies will be able to start paying the loan eight months after the formalization of the credit operation. The amount can be divided into up to 36 installments. The maximum annual interest rate will be equal to the Selic Rate (currently 3.75% per year), plus 1.25%.

Beneficiary entrepreneurs will be able to use the resources obtained for investments, to pay employees' salaries or for working capital, with expenses such as water, electricity, rent, inventory replacement, among others.
