The decree aims to establish shifts at work hours to avoid crowds and thus reduce the spread of Covid-19.
It was announced this Sunday (5) by the mayor of Rio, Marcelo Crivella, a new decree that will be published, establishing work shifts for the sectors of commerce, industry and services. The new decision is to avoid agglomerations.
“The beginning of the first shift will be for the factory sectors, then the essential activities kept open and, subsequently, the service sector. This measure aims to end the crowding of means of transport, avoiding contagious agglomerations”, said Crivella.
Crivella also added: “All the efforts made by the Municipal Guard, the Military Police and the inspectors from the Municipal Transport Secretariat still proved to be insufficient. We have been thinking about this option since March 13th, when we held our first crisis cabinet meeting. But due to the lack of voluntary implementation, it will come into force by law”.
Still this Sunday or at the beginning of the week, the Legislative Decree should be published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette.

Crivella reported that federal judge José Eduardo Nobre Mata, from the 9th Criminal Court, requested the Rio de Janeiro City Hall to present projects to combat covid-19 so that the resources captured by Justice in Operation Lava-Jato are released.
“I thank Dr. José Eduardo Nobre Mata for this initiative. Using the money diverted from the corruption scheme that shattered public finances to help the population is perfect. I have already determined that the secretaries present projects as soon as possible”, said the mayor.
