In 7 cities in Greater SP, mayors suspend public transport

To avoid further proliferation of the coronavirus, mayors decide to temporarily suspend the municipal public transport service.

Interruption will be gradual until March 28 and total from the 29th.

On the morning of this Wednesday the 18th, in an assembly held by the Consortium Intermunicipal Grande ABC, mayors of seven cities in Greater São Paulo defined the temporary closure of activities in the public transport sector of the municipality.

The decision came after the confirmation on Tuesday (17), of the first death in the state of São Paulo, resulting from the coronavirus.

The cities that are part of the consortium are the cities of Santo André, São Caetano, São Bernardo, Diadema, Mauá, Ribeirão Pires and Rio Grande da Serra.

The measure is one of the strategies to contain the advance of the pandemic. In a note, the consortium informed that the decision aims to minimize damage to the population and preserve lives in the Greater ABC region.

Government announces closure of malls and gyms

This Wednesday (18), Governor João Doria, issued a statement warning about the closure of all shopping malls and gyms in the capital of São Paulo and the metropolitan region. To contain the spread from spreading further, the closure is expected to last until April 30.

The deadline for closing activities in malls is until next Monday and for gyms, until Sunday the 22nd.

“All shopping malls must be closed by March 23rd. In other words, during these days from tomorrow, the 19th, until the 23rd of March, shopping malls will have to be closed for health reasons and protection of their employees, their professionals and obviously people. The closure determined until April 30”, said Doria. According to him, the closure may happen gradually, but should occur no later than next Monday.
