The state of Mato Grosso do Sul should register – in the 2019/2020 harvest – simply the largest soybean production in its history. Final values have not yet been communicated, although the harvest has been completed. But they are in the range of 10.1 million to 11.3 million tons.

Both data come from the survey by the National Supply Company (Conab), this Thursday (9) and the estimate made by the Oilseed Producers Association (Aprosoja/MS), this Tuesday (7), respectively.

The record until then was from the 2017/2018 cycle. With 9.6 million tons, according to data from Conab.

National Supply Company (Conab)

Conab indicates that this season, the area planted with soybeans in Mato Grosso do Sul grew by 3.4% when comparing the current crop with the previous one. Going from 2.8 million hectares to 2.9 million hectares. Added to this, he explains that there was a jump in productivity of 15.8%, from 49.6 bags per hectare to 57.5 bags per hectare.

If Conab's projection is confirmed and the final production numbers reach 10.1 million, the increase in relation to the previous cycle (8.5 million tons, according to the company's own data), will be 19.7%.

Oilseed Producers Association (Aprosoja/MS)

Meanwhile, Aprosoja/MS, in the circular of the Agribusiness Geographic Information System (SIGA), highlights a greater increase in areas planted with soy in the state. In the current cycle in relation to the previous one, they register a growth of 2.9 million hectares to 3.3 million hectares, which would represent 13.7%.

However, the increment in productivity is a subtly smaller one, 15.7%. Yield increased from 48.1 bags per hectare to 55.7 bags per hectare.

Once the association's estimate is confirmed, soybean production in Mato Grosso do Sul should grow in the 2019/2020 season, 28.72% compared to the 2018/2019 season. Period in which producers harvested, according to the entity, 8.8 million tons.
