Work on the field hospital set up by the City of São Paulo at the stadium Pacaembu, in the west zone of the Capital, will be delivered this Friday, at 3 pm, with the presence of Mayor Bruno Covas and Governor João Doria (both from the PSDB).
There is still no set date for the start of patient care, but the municipal management forecast is that activities should start next Tuesday (31). The space was ready in exactly one week.
Therefore, it is expected that 200 beds will be implemented in the Pacaembu stadium, which will be adapted to receive patients. Another 1,800 beds will be set up at Complexo do Anhembi, in the northern part of the city.
Covas went to Anhembi last Wednesday to inspect the installation of the field hospital in the event center shed. Municipal management does not rule out the possibility of opening beds in new locations, if necessary.
Although the use of these hospital facilities will be dedicated to low-complexity patients, in order to release hospitals and municipal ICUs to patients considered serious.
However, the temporary spaces will not screen cases and will only receive patients referred by hospitals or basic health units (UBSs) of the city hall.
Pacaembu Works
The Pacaembu and Anhembi structures cost R$ 35 million to assemble and will have the work of approximately 2,550 health professionals.
The works will be delivered this Friday, at 3 pm, with the presence of the mayor and governor; Start of calls is scheduled for next Tuesday.
ICU
Vacancies for these beds will be made available to people who are being treated in Basic Health Units and public hospitals and are not hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU).
Therefore, screening in the equipment will be carried out by the Municipal Health Department. The Pacaembu complex will remain closed while it is being used as a hospital area.
