Productive Projects Create New Possibilities for Young People in Family Rural Properties

The productive projects developed by rural youths in the municipality of General Câmara show the importance of the Bolsa Juventude Rural program, of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Seapdr).

The program gives young people the opportunity to access and complete high school and stay in the countryside. Therefore, through actions to development of family properties. In 2019, 350 scholarships worth R$ 2,000 were offered to low-income rural youth aged between 15 and 29 years. For 2020, there are 471 scholarships, and the selection period is open.

In General Câmara, seven students from the State Institute of Education Vasconcelos Jardim benefited. Last week, the technical team from the Department of Family Agriculture and Agroindustry (Dafa), from Seapdr, monitored the implementation of productive projects by three fellows.

Therefore, the team was received at the municipality's Department of Agriculture by director Jéssica dos Santos and by veterinarian Anderson Renato Ciotto, who helped publicize the program in educational institutions. Ciotto assisted the candidates throughout the stages of the program, was the technician responsible for preparing the projects and continues to follow up on implementation.

“The preparation of the projects was carried out through visits to the properties and took into account the aspirations of the young people. Despite family aptitude and the existence of public policies to encourage production and encourage sales”, explained Ciotto. According to the server, the available public policies allow technicians the chance to plan and provide more targeted and qualified assistance to producers.

On the property of Samuel da Silva Azevedo, 17 years old, in Linha Potreiro, the productive project consisted of building a pond for fish farming. Thus being recently excavated, with production by the carp polyculture system.

Samuel's choice was supported by the existence of a municipal project to encourage and support fish farming. In addition, the municipality has a fish slaughterhouse. Now, Samuel is waiting for the moment to put the fry in the dam and is already planning a future investment to acquire an aerator and fence the area, in order to avoid predators.

“Here on the property is another life. Everything I have here, I wouldn't have in the city”, highlighted the young man, who intends to continue in rural areas after finishing high school, referring not only to production, but also to the quality of life.
