Rondônia seeks partnership to sell Amazon tambaqui in the national market

With the aim of promoting and developing the fish farming production chain in Rondônia, the State government, through the State Secretariat for Agriculture (Seagri), has sought new partnerships and actions to spread the culture of tambaqui in amazon at the Brazilian table.

According to the secretary of Seagri, Evandro Padovani, the commercialization of tambaqui from the Amazon in São Paulo will strengthen and develop fish farming activities in Rondônia.

“We are all united in favor of the fish production chain in Brazil and the Amazon. I thank the governor, Colonel Marcos Rocha, for encouraging and supporting our production sector.

We are here looking for improvements to the fish production chain in our State, which is growing every year”, he said.

Padovani also informed that the secretary of National Aquaculture and Fisheries, Jorge Seif, has given full support to the promotion of fish production.

Meanwhile for the improvement in internal commercialization in the country and in the international market.

For the president of Acripar, Francisco Hidalgo, this is a very important opportunity for the State to place tambaqui from the Amazon on the national market. “This is yet another investment, yet another fundamental action to overcome our difficulties and attract attention. Not only from consumers, but also from investors for the processing of this fish”, he highlighted.

Therefore, the technical director of Sebrae Rondônia emphasized that this partnership aims to promote the tambaqui market in Brazil and expand consumption to the Brazilian population. “It is a great challenge for the productive sector and entities to promote and make this sector grow, so important and rich for the state of Rondônia”, he said.

According to data from Seagri, Rondônia is the largest producer of native fish in captivity and the third largest producer in Brazil. In short, tambaqui production represents 90% of the state production, followed by jatuarana 6%, painted 2% and pirarucu 2%. Rondônia is today the leader in the national production of tambaqui.

The delegation from Rondonia was also at the São Paulo City Hall to seek a partnership.
