Super Rio Expofood Will Focus on International Trade

The 32nd edition of Super Rio Expofood, an event that brings together the entire food retail chain, starts next Monday with a space dedicated to import and export.

The novelty aims to encourage international business between suppliers and businessmen from Brazil and other Latin American countries.

On site, and in all stands of more than 500 participating brands, there will be business roundtables and exhibition of products and foodstuffs. Super Rio Expofood runs until Wednesday, in an area of 40,000 m² set up in Riocentro, in Barra da Tijuca.

“Foreign suppliers will present their products to Brazilian supermarkets and vice versa. And there will be a series of tables, one next to the other, so that they can sit and close deals”, explains Fábio Queiróz, president of the Association of Supermarkets of the State of Rio (Asserj), which organizes the event.

At the companies' stands, where new products and services will be launched that will be in supermarkets in the coming months, there will also be spaces for negotiations. A team from the State Credit Promotion Agency (AgeRio) will provide support to buyers. "Thus, we will have a complete business environment, bringing together supply, demand and access to credit in the same place".

Another novelty this year will be the Expo Nature space, aimed at organic producers. Among the confirmed companies are Fit'Óka, with roasts made with tapioca dough, oil and coconut fibers, and Elemento Mineral, which produces cosmetics with rocks, crystals and metals.

Space for training will have more than 100 lectures

In addition to promoting business in the food retail sector, Super Rio Expofood aims to train businessmen on technological advances in the sector. In this edition, the SRE Conference Arena will be set up in the middle of Pavilion 3 at Riocentro. This being where more than 100 lectures are planned on topics such as market trends, management processes and consumer experience.

“We are going to demonstrate new technological devices. We will have a supermarket of the future, where visitors will be able to experience payment technology via an app. Although what ends queues in supermarkets”, says Fábio Queiróz, citing other devices: “We will also present technologies that identify expiry dates of products on the shelves and help with logistics”.

In short, the lectures will also address topics related to socio-emotional skills. “We started from the following observation: a more centered human being will be a better businessman”, says Queiróz.
