Due to the coronavirus pandemic that arrived in Brazil, schools went into quarantine, many of the public school children have food at school and created a lunch bag.
Therefore, the Government of Minas Gerais presented this Tuesday (7), the measure that will benefit children with a voucher of R$ 50.00 for low-income children. This resource was called Bolsa Merenda, to help children who will have to stay at home because of the pandemic.
The governor of Minas Gerais do Novo Romeu Zema, presented the project with data from 380 thousand students enrolled from families in extreme poverty. The calculation to profile these families is based on family income that reaches R$ 89.00 per person. The benefit has a term of four months.
The Lunch Bag
As well as the value of R$50.00 as aid for families, R$ 20 is a donation from the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais. The donation is for very poor families, but there are some that do not participate in the program and need help. In this sense, help is requested from businesspeople who can help with donations to these families.
Carlos Eduardo Amaral, Secretary of State for Health, in a meeting officially announced aid of R$1.2 MIL for indigenous communities, which are located in the state's municipality. According to data collected by Funai, there are 30 thousand indigenous people in Minas Gerais.
This benefit is extremely important to guarantee families the basics. At the same time that many families depend on institutions, many parents of these children work informally and their income cannot meet the family's basic needs.
The resource demonstrates that food for children and students is universal, every child needs to have a school meal. Although many children only eat at school, the government contributes to some extent so that they receive help. After all, this voucher will greatly help families in need during this time of crisis.
