A survey came out this week, by QualiBest, that on this Labor Day, half of the Brazilians who were self-employed before the social isolation measures were forced to stay out of work during the quarantine adopted as a way to combat the new coronavirus pandemic.
This is what research from other institutes also shows, IBGE, for example, which interviewed many people to find out what the unemployment and quarantine situation is like.
According to the studies, 51% of the self-employed (those who work on their own, self-employed professionals or small business owners) are in isolation and without working, while 36% continue to work even in isolation. A portion of 9% continues to leave home to carry out their professional activities. Other 4% are in other situations.
Labor Day many are in quarantine
Due to the financial crisis, the self-employed became one of the main concerns of governments, especially economic authorities, when the pandemic led several States to adopt social isolation measures, in the second half of March, in an attempt to contain the spread of viruses.
However, it is worth clarifying here that those who need to go out to work – like a street vendor, for example – were left without income because of the quarantine, not only because they had to stay at home, but also because customers are also isolated.
The Government approved it in the Senate. The measure, from the federal government, offers R$ 600 monthly, for three months, so that this portion of Brazilians, who are among the most economically vulnerable, can maintain a minimum income during the most acute period of social isolation, however, many complain that they can't get it out.
What would be the best solution for a quick return to the economy?
Follow what all other countries are following, social isolation, in a lockdown style, that is, decree the closure of all services that are really not essential as quickly as possible.
