Vice-President of CDL/BH Assumes Presidency of BH Convention Visitors Bureau

The vice-president of Institutional Relations at CDL/BH, Anderson Rocha, was presented as the new president from the BH Convention & Visitors Bureau (BH C&VB). Thus, he and the other members of the new board took official office at an event at CDL/BH, held on Tuesday, July 16th. The new board was elected for the 2015/2016 term.

BH C&VB is a non-governmental, non-profit institution and a world reference in tourism that aims to promote and enhance the image of Belo Horizonte as an important destination for business tourism, medical excellence, culture, gastronomy, sports, leisure and others. In addition, the institution seeks to increase the flow of visitors and their length of stay in BH and the Metropolitan Region, by attracting, generating and increasing events.

Importance for Tourism

Then vice president Anderson Rocha recalled the importance of BH C&VB for tourism. “The biggest and best tourist destinations in the world have this institution. There are more than 1500 worldwide, more than 200 in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 115 in Brazil, in all regions. They are institutions recognized worldwide in the promotion of tourist destinations”, said Rocha. However, he took the opportunity to present his line of action at the head of the institution. “We work with the vocation of the creative economy. And from this moment on, our search will be for small and medium-sized events”, he said.

Although the president of CDL/BH, Bruno Falci, recalled that the capital's tourism sector has been consolidated as one of the strongest alternatives for the growth of our economy. “We at CDL/BH are aware of the importance of tourism for Belo Horizonte. That is why the entity actively participates in the State and Municipal Tourism Councils, in the Convention Bureau and in the Turismo Negócios e Eventos Network”, he points out.

However, the president of Belotur, Mauro Werkema, congratulated the new board, especially Anderson Rocha. “I put a lot of faith in Anderson's management, which has an aggregating vision”, he said. However, Werkema also made a warning about the period of oscillation that we are going through. “We live in a unique moment that brings us many apprehensions, but we must not be pessimistic. If there is a downturn in economic activities, we must take the opportunity to innovate and evaluate what we have and plan and rethink our actions to get well in the coming years”, he concluded.

Councilor Wendel Mesquista said he has no doubt that Anderson Rocha's management will leave a mark on BH tourism, as he works with passion. However, he still seized the moment to make a first-hand announcement. “This week the construction of the new convention center in the Capital will be approved by the City Council”, promised the alderman.

New President

Above all, the director of Tourism Promotion at Belutor, Stella Kleinrath, took the opportunity to say that she is very happy with the new president taking office. “Anderson's performance is very dynamic, with a vision of the future. I am certain that the Convention Bureau will become a partner of Belo Horizonte City Hall with this new board”, he concluded.

The vice-president of CDL/BH and secretary of Central-South Regional Administration of Belo Horizonte City Hall, Marcelo de Souza e Silva, affirmed his support for Anderson Rocha at the head of BH C&VB. “I've known Anderson for over 20 years and I totally believe in his work. I am sure he will do an excellent job at the head of the institution. Whatever he needs the support of the Centro Sul Regional, he can count on me”, he explained.

Anderson Rocha introduced the members of the new board, listed below, and thanked everyone for their unconditional support.
