The State has, according to the latest update, 15 confirmed deaths for Covid-19, in addition to 117 under investigation and 121 discarded. The total number of suspected cases reported jumped from 51,640 in the previous bulletin to 56,807 in this Thursday's publication, an increase of 5,167. The governor highlighted that many municipalities do not have confirmed cases and asked: “Does this municipality have to be closed? Does it have any effect if he closes all activities?”. According to Zema, the city halls that opt for flexibility will have help and will receive guidance from the State Government for this.

So this Thursday, Zema went to Planalto to request financial aid from the federal government during the crisis period. According to him, the president received “well” the request for resources to compensate for the losses in collection of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), due to the slowdown of the economy due to the crisis of the new coronavirus.

“The president and the minister (Paulo Guedes) recognize that the states had a significant drop in ICMS. Those (states) that had water up to their noses will drown if they don't have some kind of help”, he declared.

Therefore, Zema was one of the three governors who did not sign, at the end of March, a letter asking for Bolsonaro's support and reaffirming measures supported by science in the fight against the coronavirus.

Although on Wednesday night (8), in a new statement, Bolsonaro held governors and mayors responsible for the measures that restrict the movement of people as a way to prevent the spread of the disease.
