People from Acre at Suframa Meeting, Gladson Defends Continuity of Free Trade and Investment Areas

During the 290th ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, Acreanos, held this Thursday, 20th, in Manaus (AM), Governor Gladson Cameli defended two important measures for the development of Acre.

Together, these three Acre municipalities have a special tax regime in relation to the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI) and Tax on Circulation of Goods and Provision of Services (ICMS).

“Changes were made in relation to the tax benefits of the Free Trade Areas and this was very harmful to the entrepreneurs in my state, mainly those who work in the wholesale sector. They told me that the turnover dropped by more than 10% and they were worried about the situation”, he reported.

“Therefore, my request is that we can strengthen these areas both in Acre and in the other states of the Amazon.

Our region needs to develop and I understand that we must unite so that we can create all the conditions to generate jobs and income”, added the governor.

Suframa Board of Directors approves 32 industrial projects

The main subject discussed during the meeting was the evaluation and approval of 32 industrial projects. The Board of Directors' positive signal represents a bold investment of US$188.7 million.

The initiatives include the installation of 12 new factories and the updating, diversification and expansion of another 20 undertakings.

So that the expectation is that 1,300 new jobs will be generated in the first three years. By the way, the activities in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM). The ceremony also celebrated the 53rd anniversary of the founding of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) and the Manaus Free Trade Zone Superintendence.

Cameli also took advantage of the meeting and asked for more opportunities and tax incentives so that the other Amazonian states have the chance to develop industrially.

The manager mentioned that Acre is open to receive investments and that the government will give full support, however, to undertakings that collaborate with the progress of the state.

“We need to have the same opportunity and equal treatment so that we can develop.

In Acre, we have almost 1 million people who need a chance in the job market. Although the government has been giving full support and legal security to those who really want to work.

We bet on agribusiness and industrialization as the economic salvation of our state. For those who want to invest, I say that Acreanos has its doors open to receive them”, stressed Gladson.
