What is BNDES?
Founded in 1952, in the 2nd Vargas government, the BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) is a federal public company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. However, it has offices throughout Brazil.
It is one of the largest development banks in the world. It is the Federal Government's central tool for long-term financing and investment in all segments of the Brazilian economy.
BNDES seeks to prioritize the support of entrepreneurs of all sizes, including individuals. Going from the realization of its modernization and expansion projects, to the realization of new businesses. Always being guided by the potential to generate jobs, income and social inclusion for Brazil.
Direct and indirect support
BNDES support takes place as follows:
- through investment financing;
- underwriting of securities;
- provision of guarantee;
- and granting of non-reimbursable resources.

The Bank acts through products, programs and funds, according to the modality and characteristics of the operations.
