Perhaps the main extended holiday of the year, certainly the most anticipated, this period should mean an injection of capital into the economy. With at least 36 million Brazilians enjoying the revelry, Carnival should move R$ 8 billion this year.
The National Confederation of Commerce (CNC), which is responsible for estimating revenue, calculates that, in terms of revenue, this will be the best carnival in the last 5 years. It is estimated that 25,400 temporary workers will be hired across the country, an increase of 2.8% compared to last year's carnival.

As much as a large portion of trade is closed on the holiday, the effects must be balanced according to tourism. According to the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (Abih), the average occupancy will exceed 60% across the country. And several destinations will be practically full. The confirmed booking index reaches 95% in Pernambuco and Salvador (with peaks of 100% in the capital of Bahia); 90% in Rio Grande do Norte and Rio de Janeiro; 80% in Ceará, Alagoas and Paraíba; and 80% in Minas Gerais. Most of the capitals, according to the association, registered an increase in relation to last year.

Added to all the movement of tourists, local revelers will also heat up the party. According to the survey by the Ministry of Tourism, 36 million Brazilians will enjoy the days of revelry in the six main carnival destinations in the country and in the Federal District, among travelers and residents.
In Rio de Janeiro alone, Carnival should gather 7 million revelers in blocks and in the parades of the samba schools. Of that number, 1.9 million will come from other states and other countries. In Pernambuco, the expectation is that 3.7 million will enjoy the carnival on the famous slopes of Olinda and 1.6 million in Recife.
In Minas Gerais, 5 million people should take advantage of the days in Belo Horizonte, if the deadlock for the circulation of electric trios is resolved. Salvador's carnival should bring together around 3 million revelers, of which 854 thousand are tourists. In the Federal District, 1.2 million people should enjoy the party.
