With the great contamination of the coronavirus spread around the world, at least four countries have requested the importation of masks produced in Brazil.
CNN gained access to the letters that arrived in Brazilian embassy, requesting a mask, the countries are United Arab Emirates, Italy, Peru and Israel.
The four countries that import Brazilian masks
The four countries contacted Brazil, and from March 27th, ambassadors such as Francesco Azzarello, from Italy, and Javier Yépez Verdeguer, from Peru. Same day the embassy of the United Arab Emirates and after three days the embassy of Israel, at the request of the Ministry of Economy.
Thus, the Italians asked for a quantity of 300,000 masks, the Peruvians a lot of 45,000, the Israelis bought 140,000 masks, now the Emirates did not specify the amount.
According to CNN, in a conversation with the Israeli government, they said that they do not intend to put pressure on Brazil if the country does not have enough stock to serve its population.
Emirates reported not receiving a response from the Ministry of Economy, but believes in a pleasant relationship with President Bolsonaro.
The Peruvian embassy believes in companionship and solidarity between the two neighboring countries. So too, Italy believes in Brazil's solidarity, in helping countries in need in this difficult time.
The Ministry of Economy is studying how to work at this moment, between supply and demand for products in the Brazilian market.
In contrast, in Brazil, the government seeks to maintain the economy by importing inputs for the production of products that fight the coronavirus. President Bolsonaro, in contact with India, seeks to maintain the import of inputs for the pharmacy sector. So in order to produce chloroquine, medicine, which they say can fight the virus.
Although India bans exports, the Indian government says there may still be exceptions, each case on a case by case basis. The Ministry of Health is receiving help from Itamaraty to obtain inputs from abroad.
