Finally, our head of state, President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, did what we've all been waiting for, the most awaited appointment in recent weeks.
This Monday (4) delegate Rolando Alexandre de Souza as the new director general of the Federal Police. The nomination was published in an extra edition of the “Official Gazette”.
After all, who is Rolando de Souza?
It was what everyone was waiting for this month, new director of the PF. Rolando was named the new director of the PF. This was made official five days after Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), suspended Bolsonaro's decision to appoint the director general of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), also delegate Alexandre Ramagem, to command the FEDERAL POLICE.
As published by O GLOBO, it is known that Souza is already a Federal Police chief. He was PF superintendent in Alagoas between 2018 and 2019. In September 2019, at the invitation of Alexandre Ramagem, he took over as Secretary of Planning and Management at Abin.
In the PF, Rolando was also head of the Service for Repression of Diversion of Public Resources and held leadership positions in the Division to Combat Financial Crimes and in the superintendence in Rondônia.
Crisis in government still remains
Last week as we spoke in this matter here, we had a terrible crisis after the resignation of Moro and other conflicts involving the government. And of course, the suspension of the appointment of Ramagem to the Federal Police contradicted Bolsonaro, who last week stated that Minister Alexandre de Moraes’ decision was “political”.
The friend of the president's children and responsible for Bolsonaro's security from the campaign to inauguration, Ramagem was chosen by Bolsonaro to replace Mauricio Valeixo, the trusted name of former minister Sérgio Moro, however, it was unsuccessful.
However, as we see, Bolsonaro chooses Ramagem's right hand man to command the PF.
