A new INSS (National Social Security Institute) ordinance was published in the official gazette of the union, which will facilitate new enrollments in the Bolsa Familia. By means of this ordinance, persons with disabilities (PwD) and the elderly are excluded from the per capita family income calculations.
The ordinance also establishes that social security benefits, which provide up to R$1,100 (1 minimum wage), as well as the BPC - Continuous Provision Benefits, aimed at the elderly and people with disabilities (PcD), are excluded from the obligation to integrate the calculation mentioned above.
Utility of per capita income for Bolsa Família
In this sense, it is worth mentioning that per capita income is an indicator used by the economy, to analyze the situation of the economy of a nation, in a given period, it is calculated by dividing the GNP (National Income), by the number of inhabitants .
Here in Brazil, per capita income is used to assess and define whether or not a citizen fits into government programs, like Bolsa Familia itself.
Purpose of Bolsa Familia
The Bolsa Família program has the purpose of delivering income directly to families that are considered to be in poverty or extreme poverty, the program tries to guarantee a way for these families to overcome social barriers, in terms of vulnerability, taking into account , basic rights such as education, health and food.
Who is entitled to Bolsa Família?
Bolsa Família has 2 frontlines, the first works with citizens who have an individual monthly income of up to R$89, and the second serves families with a maximum individual monthly income of R$178 reais.
Another important factor is that families necessarily need to have children and adolescents from 0 to 17 years old. And the program also obliges mothers who are pregnant to carry out prenatal care, completely through the Unified Health System (SUS). In this sense, children must have a complete and up-to-date vaccination card.
How much does Bolsa Família pay?
The new proposal from the federal government, for what they are calling the “New Bolsa Familia”, is for a value of R$190 reais, which can be scaled up to R$200 reais. These values, as mentioned above, will be established according to each class.
It should be noted that the current value that defines how much will be received will change from R$89 to R$92 and from R$178 to R$192 per person. In this way, more families can benefit from this program.
New Bolsa Familia
The proposal of the new Bolsa Familia is to promote scholarships based on 3 merits, defined as school, scientific and sports. Initially, the intention is to encourage commitment and performance in each of the areas mentioned.
It is worth mentioning that new enrollments for the Bolsa Familia program should start in October 2021, the program has been reformulated and new information should be made available soon by the Ministry of Citizenship.
