In the country, the number of cases of contamination by the coronavirus continues to grow and so far has reached 3,417 people with the disease.
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health on the coronavirus, the number of deaths reached 92 this Friday (27). Thursday there were 77 deaths. The result means an increase of 18% compared to yesterday.
Compared to the beginning of the week, when there were 25 deaths, the number multiplied by 3.68 times. The lethality rate reached its maximum for the week, standing at 2.7%.
Today, the 27th, the total number of confirmed cases jumped from 2,915 to 3,417. This result configures an increase of 80% in cases compared to the beginning of the week, when 1,891 infected people were confirmed.
The number of new cases was 502, and reached the highest number in the historical series. Yesterday, the increase was 482. In previous days, the increase had been smaller, averaging 232 and 345 cases.

São Paulo is the epicenter of the pandemic in Brazil and has accumulated 1,233 cases. Second comes Rio de Janeiro (493), Ceará (282), the Federal District (230), Rio Grande do Sul (195) and Minas Gerais (189).
Cases were also registered in Santa Catarina (149), Paraná (119), Bahia (115), Amazonas (89), Pernambuco (56), Goiás (49), Espírito Santo (47), Mato Grosso do Sul (28), Rio Grande do Norte (28), Acre (25), Sergipe (16), Maranhão (13), Pará (13), Alagoas (11). Mato Grosso and Roraima account for 10 cases. Paraíba and Piauí 9. Tocantins 8, Rondônia 6 and Amapá with 2 confirmed cases.

In the general profile of the victims, 89% of them were over 60 years old. 35% were women and 65% were men. With regard to related diseases, 47 of the people had some heart disease, 34 were diabetic, 17 had pneumonia, and 10 of them had some kind of kidney complication.
In the wards, the number of hospitalized patients is 149 and 186 are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the cases reaches 497, which is equivalent to 3.5% of admissions with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Asked about confirming Covid-19 as the cause of deaths, João Gabbardo dos Reis, executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, stated that patients will be tested. “Sometimes you have to do it once, twice. But the diagnosis will always be made. There will be no underreporting. What could happen is a delay”, said the secretary.
