The line of credit targets small and medium-sized companies to help them pay their employees' salaries for two months.
This Friday, the 27th, the federal government announced an emergency credit line to finance the payroll of small and medium-sized companies, as a way to help them during the public calamity situation caused by the new coronavirus pandemic (covid-19). ). The measure will last for two months.
The speech took place at the Planalto Palace and was made by President Jair Bolsonaro and the President of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto. A maximum amount of R$ 40 billion will be made available through the program, that is, R$ 20 billion per month.
Together in the speech were also the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, and of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Gustavo Montezano.
The announcement comes after increasing pressure on Bolsonaro to adopt measures similar to those seen in other countries. To facilitate the situation, such as the isolation recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to reduce the growth in the number of infected by covid-19.

About 1.4 million companies should benefit from the financing line, reaching 12.2 million workers. The credit will target companies with annual revenues between R$ 360 thousand and R$ 10 million and will finance two months of their payrolls.
According to Campos Neto, the measure will be implemented by the BNDES. The funding limit is two minimum wages.
Assistance for self-employed
On Thursday (26), the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies approved emergency aid for self-employed, informal and without fixed-income workers during the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The measure will last for three months, in the amount of R$ 600. The matter will be analyzed by the Senate and will later go to the opinion of President Jair Bolsonaro.
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health, released this Thursday, the country has 3,417 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 92 deaths as a result of the disease. The fatality rate is 2.7%.
