According to a statement, they will be integrated into the Atacadão chain, wholesale and retail stores. The plan is to convert the banners of all 30 stores within 12 months.

In October 2019, the company had agreed to purchase 49% from fintech Ewally, with an option to purchase control after three years.

The points acquired are in the following states: Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Goiás, Bahia, Pernambuco, Ceará, Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Santa Catarina, Pará, Amazonas, Piauí, Sergipe, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraíba and Tocantins, in addition to the District Federal.

Makro still intends to sell another 14 units

With this sale, the company Macro, which is a brand of the Dutch group SHV, now has 38 units in the country. But the expectation is to negotiate 14 units for other networks, as the objective is to focus on operations in the state of São Paulo, where there are still 24 stores.

According to the company, the closing of the business depends on the final approval of CADE (Administrative Council for Economic Defense).

Makro said in a note that it will continue with its operation in Brazil, including the 24 stores in the state of São Paulo, which need to be revitalized and expanded. The company also explained that it will invest in a new perishables distribution center.

Carrefour Brasil ended 2019 with 692 stores in the country, of which 186 are Atacadão.
