Study shows that Brazil is the 2nd country with the greatest disbelief in Coronavirus

When the new coronavirus emerged in China at the end of last year, the world had no idea how dangerous this virus was, but as cases increased, first world countries went on full alert.

However, even going on alert, most European countries did not wax their doors, countries like Italy and Spain, were very disdainful about the danger of the coronavirus, even going so far as to campaign like: “Italy cannot stop.”

And what do we see next? A real collapse in public health, isn't it? The Italian leaders felt obliged to apologize for the disdainful speeches they made, however, to no avail, a strategic plan was needed to deal with the new problem.

Brazilians do not believe so much in the danger of the coronavirus

The survey, carried out by Ipsos institute, conducted online interviews with 28,000 people in countries such as Canada, the US, Italy and China. Across the global average, 44% said travel restrictions and social isolation will not stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The study showed that the population that least believes in the effectiveness of these measures is India, where 56% responded that they do not consider them effective. Brazil and Germany are tied in second place, with 54%. Mexico (50%), Japan and Russia follow with 49%.

The Spaniards were the ones who trust confinement the most, with only 34% of those interviewed responding that they do not consider it effective. Then come the Australians (35%) and, tied for third place, Canadians, Italians and Chinese (36%).

A curious thing about this survey is that the Spaniards are also the least confident in a quick economic recovery after the end of confinement: only 17% responded believing that the process will be swift. French (19%) and Italians (24%) are also pessimistic.

In the case of Brazil, 46% said they believe the economy will recover quickly. The most optimistic were the Vietnamese (80% of positive responses), followed furthest by respondents from China (68%) and India (63%).

The Ipsos institute has conducted a weekly survey, and the results of this round correspond to questions asked between the 9th and 12th of April.

Here in Brazil, there were around 2,000 interviewees, who represent the internet-connected portion of the population. The margin of error is 3.5 percentage points.

Is that you? What do you think about?
