Firjan makes a proposal to the Federal Government for a support plan for companies to help with financial maintenance, after the expansion of the new coronavirus
The Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) prepared a document with several proposals to contribute to preserving jobs and maintaining the financial health of companies. Shortly after the expansion of the coronavirus pandemic, the Productive Resilience Support Program was created. The letter will be forwarded to the Federal Government.
Rio de Janeiro has 19 cases of Covid-19 and another 228 people suspected of being infected.
Among the guidelines requested by Firjan is the immediate expansion of existing lines of credit from the BNDES, mainly for small and medium-sized companies. With the creation of a dedicated line, with characteristics similar to those of “Disater Assistance”, created in the United States.
The proposal also includes a request for an extension of the deadline for payment of federal taxes, given the difficulty of companies in generating cash flow. Among these taxes are PIS, Simples Nacional, Cofins, IRPJ, IPI and CSLL presumed profit.
“It is essential to create conditions for companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, to go through the impacts that the advance of the coronavirus is bringing to the economy. Measures that help these companies to support the demand, maintaining their production and preserving jobs”, said the president of Firjan, Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira.
The Federation suggests provisional and emergency easing of labor costs, with less bureaucracy for the adoption of remote work, compulsory and collective vacations.
Community transmission confirmed in RJ
At the moment, two cases of community transmission of the coronavirus have already been confirmed in Rio de Janeiro. This situation is when it is no longer possible to identify the infection chain of a virus. This means that the virus continues to circulate freely among the population. In São Paulo, two cases of this type of transmission have already been confirmed.
So far, there have only been records of local transmission or imported cases. Where it is possible to identify the source of the infection.
