São Paulo is experiencing a complicated situation in relation to Covid-19

The state is the most infected by the new coronavirus, so the measure will also be valid for taxis and app cars in the city of São Paulo.

The government announced that they will be published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (30). The decree will be issued by the São Paulo City Hall and another by the state government on the requirement. The government already recommended the use of masks across the state.

The governor of São Paulo stated:

“From May 4th, the use of masks in public transport, in public transport, will be mandatory, under the administration of the government of the state of São Paulo and the city hall [São Paulo]. And, I am sure that this measure will also be followed by municipal decrees of the other mayors of the state of São Paulo to make the use of masks mandatory”

Who will supervise? This must be done by companies, whether public or private. If any irregularity is found, the companies will be warned in writing and, in case of recurrence, they will be fined by Artesp.

Anyone breaking the rules will be warned. “The warning will be verbal, it will not be written, it will be verbal. I don't see why anyone would want to not wear masks and expose their own health and the health of others," added Doria.

Asked about the tightening of rules during the quarantine, as the state has a low isolation rate, the governor said that he is already doing this with the mandatory masks. “If the health area recommends new measures, we will have no hesitation in adopting.” The Governor emphasizes that he is working with scientific recommendations, not religious ones.
